Cleaning and Lubrication

Pneumatic impact wrenches have two mechanisms that need to be lubricated separately: the air motor and the impact mechanism.

To lubricate the air motor, either install an inline lubricator in your compressor and fill it with oil, or drop oil inside your impact wrench’s air inlets.

To lubricate the impact mechanism, open the tool by removing the hammer case, then remove the anvil, bushing, hammers, hammers’ frame, and the anvil lugs. Clean all the parts with a rug and apply a small coat of regular grease to the anvil, hammers, and the inside of the hammer’s frame. Put the hammers back inside the case and grease the anvil, the inside part of the hammer case, the anvil lugs, and the bushing before reassembling. Repeat this process approximately every 48-60 hours of use.

Carbon Brush Maintenance

The carbon brushes may require maintenance when the motor performance of the tool decreases or stops working. Remove the carbon brush cover on each side of the motor housing and take out the carbon brushes, noting their orientation. If either brush is worn down by more than half, replace them both. Clean old brushes with a pencil eraser before reinserting them in the same orientation. When installing, ensure the carbon portions of the brushes contact the motor armature and that the springs face away from the motor. Replace the carbon brush covers, being careful not to overtighten.

Repairs

If internal maintenance is necessary, refer to your dealer. If it is necessary to replace the power cable, this must be done by the manufacturer.
